Another of Funakoshi Gichin's students, Hironishi Genshin (Also known as Motonobu) was one of the last great masters. A close friend of Funakoshi Yoshitaka, and together with Funakoshi Gichin and Egami Shigeru the group were responsible for the development of Japanese Karate-Do. Hironishi Genshin succeeded Egami Shigeru as Chief Instructor of the Shotokan Dojo after Shigeru's death in 1981. He was also the President of the Japan Shotokai Karate-Do until his death in 1999. |
