Character:

Kata: - "Formal Exercises" - the foundation of karate, a kata or form is a sequence of choreographed moves like shadow boxing.

Kihon: - basic kicks, punches, blocks & strikes used in karate for self-defence

Kumite: - sparring or fighting techniques

Kime: - means focus

Kiai: - Both vocal & silent - Fighting Spirit or a short loud shout. The noise from a kiai is said to emit from the "hara" or "tanden", and it involves the abdominal muscles and diaphragm. It should not be sounded in the throat.
